The plaid dress: 3 looks

Plaid dress: Brandy Melville
As if I didn't own enough plaid pieces, I recently added this great dress to my wardrobe and I am loving it for fall layering!  Here's my take on 3 ways to style this dress:

Look 1: For this first look, I kept it simple by pairing the dress with black thigh highs and my leather jacket. It's the school girl meets rocker chick.

 | Leather Jacket & Thigh highs: H&M | Boots: Doc Martens |

Look 2: What's great about dresses is that you can also use them as skirts so it's a 2 in 1 deal! I wore my "WTF" graphic tee and my neon jewelled necklace for a pop of colour. Really digging the pops of neon for fall.

| T-shirt: Made at print store | Necklace: H&M |

Look 3:  A little sporty twist to the plaid dress. I wore my black stripe detail sweater and layered two of my most versatile necklaces to create a sporty chic ensemble.

Sweater: Forever 21

All for velvet this season

| Velvet pants & Leather jacket: H&M |

|Circle Sunnies: Kensington Market, Toronto| Hat: Topshop |

|Cut-out shoes: Capezio (Jeffrey Campbell's Melina)|

Velvet is having a comeback this season and it screams glamour! I never thought I would ever be caught wearing velvet pants but hey, I seem to be trying something new a lot lately so why not.

3 key words you should consider when wearing velvet are: k e e p i t s i m p l e. The thing with velvet fabric is that it can easily be overdone and look a little tacky sometimes. Velvet is the perfect balance of elegance and glamour on its own and it does not need much to make a great outfit. I went with a more casual look by pairing mine with a boyfriend fit jersey tee and layered my leather jacket on top.  Oh and did I mention the shoes! I just got these last week and I have never been more obsessed with a pair of shoes. Thank you Jeffrey Campbell for these beauties!

Leather overalls

Leather Overalls: H&M | Wool Blazer: Thrifted

Necklace: H&M

Floral Socks: H&M | Boots: Topshop

Neon Beanie: American Apparel

One of my obsessions this fall: Overalls! I found this great faux leather pair at H&M and I absolutely love them. I never thought I would have the confidence to wear an all leather pair but I decided to give them a try and was so pleased with how well they fit and how soft they felt.

I paired the look with a great men's vintage wool blazer I found on one my thrift adventures a week ago and accessorized with a neon beanie for a pop of colour and some of my favourite  jewelled accessories.

The Plaid Suit

Blazer: Thrifted | Plaid Trousers: H&M

Accessories: Urban outfitters | Forever 21 | Brandy Melville(top to bottom)

Middy Rings: H&M

You probably remember this plaid blazer from one of my previous posts. Well I finally found the perfect pants for them! I have been looking for a plaid pant and blazer combo for so long and was able to get these two pieces for just under $50. Although they're not the same fabric and identical plaids, the two worked great together and complemented each other amazingly.

I love the sophistication and chicness that a suit can carry. Inspired by men's fashion, we see more and more women adopting the look and looking extra chic while wearing it.

I wore this look for a fashion show last week and paired the look with my staple grey beanie and some gold accessories. Simple but chic.

Have a lovely friday!

Treasures in the vintage aisles

Sweater: Thrifted | Vegan leather shorts: Durumi | Boots: Topshop

Necklace: Brandy Melville

Once in a while, you come across that piece of clothing where you just know you scored on and will treasure it in your possession for a very long time. This sweater is that piece for me and is by far one of my best thrift finds found in the men's aisles of a second hand store. It's hard to believe that anyone would let the one go but the saying "one man's trash is another man's treasure" couldn't be more true.

I just love the geometric shapes on the sweater and the amount of detail that was put into it just makes it even more perfect. I paired it with my leather scalloped shorts from a small boutique called Durumi located in Downtown, Toronto(definitely check them out if you're into unique delicate jewellery) and to play things up, wore my blue denim shirt underneath so I could get the collar detail and a pop of blue. Lastly to add to the geometric theme, I added my gold 3D triangle necklace from Brandy Melville.

Have a fabulous evening,

As if!

Leather biker jacket and Fuzzy sweater: H&M/ Plaid skirt: Brandy Melville

Whistle necklace: Nasty Gal

Silver rings: Brandy Melville/ Gold stackable rings: H&M

My obsession with plaid continues and this skirt is one of my newest additions. I fell in love with this skirt as soon as I laid my eyes on it at Brandy but I was a tad worried about looking like a school girl considering i've seen so many highschool students wearing an almost exact replica as part of their school uniform. However, with a little bit of styling and accessorizing, the skirt was just the perfect accent to my outfit and the term "school girl" was quickly forgotten.

For this look, I'm wearing one the comfiest fuzzy sweater from h&m. I liked the baggy fit of the sweater but it still showed off the plaid skirt. I wore my leather jacket over top to add a rock chic feel to the look and completed the look with my staple black beanie and some gold & silver accessories.
