Riri inspired look

In today's post I'm channelling my inner Riri because let's be real we've all got a little "badgal" in all of us! I've always been a big fan of the matching crop and high-waisted skirt combo and Rihanna is a perfect example of someone who effortlessly rocks the look and looks amazing in it every time. In my shopaholic days, I've come across quite a few styles from some of my favourite stores: Zara, Topshop and H&M but I never really found one that I really loved.. until last week that is..

I instantly fell in love with the simple mid-length skirt when I saw it on one of the racks at H&M then knew i had to have it when I saw the matching crop for it! I absolutely love the subtle pin-stripe detail incorporated in the fabric: it's office wear meets glamour!

Styling wise, the outfit itself is enough on its own but a little glamouring up never hurt. I paired it with one of my favourite jewel necklaces also from H&M, my favourite leather cap, my staple black booties and finished off the look with some red lipstick(a must in my opinion)!

Styling the Midi skirt for Winter

This winter I'd have to say my most used piece of clothing has been my basic cotton midi skirt! Since I'm usually rocking the baggy & oversized looks, this mid-length minimalistic skirt adds the perfect amount of femininity to my often tomboyish outfits. Here's 3 outfits featuring my favourite basic!

Have a lovely night!

The art of layering

| Wilfred Sweater and Wilfred free Plaid shirt: Aritzia | Shoes: Jeffrey Campbell |

Hello lovelies, I know it's been a while since i've last posted..I have been dreading going outside to take photos but I was able to find a new spot  right in the warmth of my own house so this is where I'll be taking my photos for the next little while at least until the temperatures start to go up.
Today's look is a simple casual chic outfit with some much needed layering for this extreme cold weather(They're calling it a polar vortex apparently hah). I'm loving this silk and cotton mix red plaid shirt that I recently bought from Aritzia, it's the perfect layering piece! I'm also wearing my favourite shoes at the moment which are surprisingly super comfortable and have lasted me through my 8 hour work days!
Hope you're all having a lovely weekend!

Fuzzy in peach

Hi lovelies, school craziness is finally over and I can start blogging regularly again! As you can see, there's been a slight change in the setting of my photos as mother nature has surprised us with a few snow storms this month.. But hey it's Canada so what's new really?

I wore this outfit to work the other day and got so many compliments about my peach cashmere blazer!  Little did they know that it was thrifted and cost me under $10! I love that the blazer is super comfy but still has a its sophisticated appeal. I paired it with a graphic tee and a simple charcoal-grey midi skirt for a semi-casual sophisticated look!

The plaid dress: 3 looks

Plaid dress: Brandy Melville
As if I didn't own enough plaid pieces, I recently added this great dress to my wardrobe and I am loving it for fall layering!  Here's my take on 3 ways to style this dress:

Look 1: For this first look, I kept it simple by pairing the dress with black thigh highs and my leather jacket. It's the school girl meets rocker chick.

 | Leather Jacket & Thigh highs: H&M | Boots: Doc Martens |

Look 2: What's great about dresses is that you can also use them as skirts so it's a 2 in 1 deal! I wore my "WTF" graphic tee and my neon jewelled necklace for a pop of colour. Really digging the pops of neon for fall.

| T-shirt: Made at print store | Necklace: H&M |

Look 3:  A little sporty twist to the plaid dress. I wore my black stripe detail sweater and layered two of my most versatile necklaces to create a sporty chic ensemble.

All for velvet this season

| Velvet pants & Leather jacket: H&M |

|Circle Sunnies: Kensington Market, Toronto| Hat: Topshop |

|Cut-out shoes: Capezio (Jeffrey Campbell's Melina)|

Velvet is having a comeback this season and it screams glamour! I never thought I would ever be caught wearing velvet pants but hey, I seem to be trying something new a lot lately so why not.

3 key words you should consider when wearing velvet are: k e e p i t s i m p l e. The thing with velvet fabric is that it can easily be overdone and look a little tacky sometimes. Velvet is the perfect balance of elegance and glamour on its own and it does not need much to make a great outfit. I went with a more casual look by pairing mine with a boyfriend fit jersey tee and layered my leather jacket on top.  Oh and did I mention the shoes! I just got these last week and I have never been more obsessed with a pair of shoes. Thank you Jeffrey Campbell for these beauties!
